This 135 campsite park is a mixed forest originally planted by Civilian Conservation Corps crews during the 1930s. The Morro Bay State Park is an ideal spot to camp as it features a pristine saltwater marsh that supports a thriving bird population.  . The bay's most prominent landmark is Morro Rock. The park has opportunities for biking, kayaking, fishing, hiking and bird watching. The park museum has exhibits that cover Native American life, geology, oceanography and local wildlife. We also have an 18-hole public golf course and a colorful marina that includes a restaurant and kayak rental shack.

Morro Bay State Park trail description:
Morro Bay State Park is divided by S. Bay Blvd. The relatively smaller area west of S. Bay Blvd is known as Black Hill. The larger area to the east is commonly referred to as Cerro Cabrillo. Both areas cater to hiking, cross country bike riding and feature extensive singletrack. There are some moderately steep climbs, although they are typically short, as the highest point in the park (Black Hill summit) is only at 661 feet of elevation. Most of the trails wind through coastal sage scrub and native grasslands, with occasional groves of coastal live oak, pine, and eucalyptus. The park surrounds the Morro Estuary Natural Preserve, which provides a haven for many bird species.
