TALL SHIPS ARE BACK!
Lady Washington and Hawaiian Chieftain to visit Morro Bay Feb 13-18, 2008
Early spring in Morro Bay signals a freshening ocean breeze, plenty of sun, blue skies, observing rare birds, whale migrations, and “The Tall Ships.”
If you paid to see all the “Pirates of the Caribbean” movies you know tall vessels are cresting an all-time cinematic high. But the thrill of watching celluloid schooners is nothing compared to witnessing the real thing.
This year your family can be on hand when the Hawaiian Chieftain, and the Lady Washington majestically ‘round Morro Rock, trim their sails to navigate the jetty and lay-too in our breathtaking harbor.
Go on board and tour living history.
The Lady Washington is a prefect replica of a 90-ton merchant Brig, circa 1860, and the Hawaiian Chieftain is faithful full scale, fully operational reproduction of the original 1870’ s 64 ton trading vessel.
The “Lady” and the “Chieftain” make the perfect couple for a family getaway or a romantic stay. They arrive on February 13th and stay through the 18th.*
*Because these are true sailing vessels subject to wind and tide, arrival time is estimated.
